How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Our product , mine and Lorena’s challenges the conventions in a very subtle way. All of the components of the film opening are unique are required an immense amount of work. There is a very big contrast between the light , happy and vivid shots in the woods and the dark, electric shots taken with the uv light and the uv paint. There are many conventions respected in the opening, such as the voice over which is very common among film openings. Also the way we aligned our credits with the actual shots , they appear smoothly and in harmony with the music and the image itself. The font that was used is meant to underline the artistic side of the opening but also the wild and the "teen" part of it. My personal opinion is that the music chosen fits very well with the whole thing because its fresh and young but it also speaks about love and just hearing it ,it makes you want to get up and dance with them.

We tried representing the teenage side of it by adding the goofiness and the colors of young love , the shots are not perfect , but so is young romance. Her voice is very innocent and full of hope and pain , while the costumes are meant to emphasize the idea of "ideal love" because of the way she imagines everything. She is dressed as a princess and he as a gentleman. At the end when she wakes up , she is in pajammas , meaning that the fantasy is over. She took of her "ideal love" dress and now she is normal. Without her prince.

Every single image and shot used in the film opening represents a memory of our main character in a very unique way , it represents the pain and the pleasure of young love and the way we , as teenagers , feel it. Normally a movie opening contains just fragments or bits and pieces of the movie to prepare the viewer for the message the movie. But our film opening contains the essence of the movie itself, and if the viewer does not pay attention to it, they might no get the true message of the whole movie.

The forest shots are very clear and smooth , representing the artistic and beautiful face of young love , lets say the early months or years when everything is just perfect and “pink”. The lighting shows the young lovers faces and the way the look at each other while being in love. Its just very pure. The shots and camera movements that were used had a very specific purpose, and that is to show the smoothness of early love , the camera just glides along with them when they dance while closeups show the real feelings.

The UV room shots are edgy and rough , representing that side of love , when you get comfortable , when you fight and make up and after that you end up just loving your partner even more. The natural side. The camera shots are made that way , without a stabilizer with the aesthetic purpose of seeing only what needs to be seen. The lighting is very low just to create the ambiance that was necessary , to transmit the image that we had in our imagination. The shots are out of focus , almost like they came out of the girls foggy memory , remembering their love.

Listening and watching the film opening you will se that it is not usual, its artistic and meaningful and it contains the essence of the movie. Other movie openings are very light and fun just to relax the viewer for what is about to come , getting them into the moods. While our opening has the essential , the heavy part , because really there is no easier way to represent the intensity of young love.
