Editing and Sound

The Editing process was very long , longer than we expected. At first we started editing with DaVinci Resolve,but the thing is the Macbook Air can't really support the software , and it starts overheating. So after that we donloaded FinalCut Pro which was amazing because now the laptop doesen't overheat anymore and we could really work on it. The tools were way easier to use and to have real accuracy in the editing on the video and the sound.

When we first started editing we gathered every single video and shot we had and selected what was the best. We stared cutting everything and putting it into place , this took about two days. After we finnished putting the raw video toghether we stared to color edit. This did not take tht much time because we really knew what we wanted , and that is to make it look like a memory , with bright colors and to evidentiate the smoke.

Once the colors were perfect we had to add the music. But the music needed to be edited too, so from a four minute song we managed to turn it into a two minute song by just keeping the essential. Now that the music is added and it fits perfectly with the shots , so it makes sense and it has meaning.

We recorded the voice over and put it into Final Cut , then we placed them on top of the video , to create meaning. The sound and the music needed to be edited so that they go nicely toghether and it doesen't bother the ear.

Once all of the above was put toghether text had to be added so that the credits look nice , it took a long time for us to find a good font. The title was really hard to create because we needed to overlap three kinds of images to make it look nice.

We have come to realize that editing is incredibly hard because you need to take some plain videos and give them meaning.
